1. Introduction to A2LA:

A2LA (American Association for Laboratory Accreditation) is one of the largest accreditation bodies in the world and the only independent 501(c)3 non-profit, internationally recognized accreditation body in the United States, which can provide a full range of comprehensive conformity assessment services.

Founded in 1978, A2LA is a public service membership association dedicated to formally accrediting qualified testing and calibration laboratories (including medical laboratories), biobank facilities, inspection bodies, product accreditation bodies, proficiency testing providers and reference material production business. A2LA has more than 3,700 actively recognized certificates representing all 50 U.S. states and more than 50 countries. A2LA offers three main service lines to support the recognition of competencies in the conformity assessment industry.
