PSE
PSE certification is a mandatory certification in Japan, including safety and EMI, to prove that electrical and electronic products meet the requirements of the Electrical Appliances and Materials Safety Act or the international IEC standard. The Japanese Electrical Appliances and Materials Safety Law stipulates that 457 kinds of products must pass safety certification to enter the Japanese market.

1. Introduction to PSE certification
PSE certification is a mandatory certification in Japan, including safety and EMI, to prove that electrical and electronic products meet the requirements of the Electrical Appliances and Materials Safety Act or the international IEC standard. The Japanese Electrical Appliances and Materials Safety Law stipulates that 457 kinds of products must pass safety certification to enter the Japanese market. Among them, 116 kinds of specific electrical appliances should obtain the diamond-shaped PSE mark, and products other than 341 kinds of specific electrical appliances should obtain the round PSE mark.

3. Preparation of PSE certification materials
1. Application submission materials: relevant application forms
2. Test preparation materials
(1) CB report (including Japanese difference test)
(2) Circuit diagram (Layout)
(3) PCB design drawings related to safety regulations
(4) Specifications of transformers and coil parts
(5) List of key components and their certificates
(6) Japanese manual or assembly manual
(7) Japanese nameplates and warning signs (including PSE signs and notified supplier names)
(8) Structure data table
(9) List of factory production and calibration certificate, etc. (for factory inspection)
3. Provide samples for testing: It varies according to the application standards and certification bodies. Usually, 5pcs samples are provided with CB, and 10pcs samples are provided without CB.
4. PSE Certification process
1. The applicant shall provide relevant materials;
2. Both parties sign the quotation contract;
3. The applicant sends samples;
4. Laboratory test samples;
5. Issue certificates;
6. Send reports and certificates.
5. Validity period of PSE certification
Diamond PSE certificate: 3 years, 5 years, 7 years (depending on the product).
Round PSE certificate: usually self-declared by the factory or a test report issued by a third-party laboratory/certification body.
